Why We Do What We Do

The ABDC Vision

The Alcy Ball Development Corporation is a non-profit organization with a heart for the historic Alcy Ball neighborhood. Our vision is to see the whole neighborhood thriving; its residents connected to each other across generational lines and its homes owned by friends and family who share our pride for the neighborhood. We’re here for the long haul and we’re committed to service and relationship because we know that’s what it takes to live well alongside others.

When we think about the impact we want to have in Alcy Ball, three words become evident. These have become the building blocks our organization is founded upon: connect, train, and restore.

Connect

Neighborhoods are where you live, but neighbors are what keep you there. Our hope is to cross generational divides in the community by hosting parties and organizing events that engage both the younger and more mature members of our neighborhood. Gathering together builds compassion and understanding and the closer the neighborly bonds are, the better for the entirety of the community. 

Train

We want to help guide Alcy Ball residents towards financial freedom, home ownership, and long term residency in the neighborhood. Alcy Ball is an amazing place to live, and we want all of our residents to invest both financially and emotionally in the long term well-being of the area. Real impact doesn’t happen overnight, so settling down and planting roots is the key to keeping Alcy Ball an established community.

Restore

Blight can discourage the entire neighborhood. At ABDC, we see the beauty of Alcy Ball and we’re committed to seeing homes renovated and returned to their previous charm. Whether it's through regular community clean ups, actively helping renters become homeowners, or pursuing justice through the local court system, we’re  banding together with our neighbors to help renew and maintain the properties in Alcy Ball.

The Alcy Ball Development Corporation is part of the community. We’re here to help residents stay, invest, and prosper however we can. 

This is not a short term mission. It’s a long term vision. 

Alcy Ball matters and it deserves an organization with feet on the ground to spur on impact, develop change, and inspire investment. That’s what we’re all about and that’s exactly why we do what we do.
